Pixi Primer Review - Pixi Flawless and Poreless

Pixi Flawless and Poreless Primer - comes into a beautiful matte and simple packaging |
Because I wear the Dr. Jart BB Cream most of the time, I haven't had the need for a face primer. However, with several exciting events (ahem, graduation , reunions, and interviews coming up, I realize that I need my makeup to last longer than the usual 5 to 6 hours. When my sister received this Pixi Flawless and Poreless face primer in her February Ipsy bag, she offered to let me keep it and test it (because she's awesome like that!).
Miranda's Notes:Pros: I've tried the Smashbox primers previously as well as Too Faced and Benefit Porefessional primers. This Pixi primer is closer to Too Faced in texture as opposed to Smashbox Photo Finish and Benefit because Pixi is similar to a cream or lotion. The Smashbox Photo Finish Light primer which I've used the most, feels like a mineral veil powder when applied and does not absorb into the skin - it's a very strange feeling indeed! Pixi Flawless and Poreless primer is a slightly tinted cream that spreads easily, without streaks, and soaks into the skin with no tackiness. I found that this primer did a great job at hiding pores especially around the nose and under eye areas. Despite the cons I'll list below, if you're looking for a pore minimizing primer, Pixi does the job wonderfully. I used Pixi over my normal daily moisturizer and had no issue with the application. Overall, the primer helped my makeup last longer, but around the nose and chin area, I started noticing fading and redness after only a few hours.
Cons: The biggest issue with the Pixi Flawless and Poreless primer is the fact that it makes the face oily all around (not just around the T-zone). I have dry skin, and I even thought I was a bit too shiny. Combined with the 30$ USD price tag (ouch!), for a full sized product, this primer may not be the best choice if you have oily/combination skin. I loved that my face looked airbrushed when using the Pixi Flawless and Poreless (applies smooth and covers pores really well), but wish this could have lasted without turning into an oily extravaganza. I'll continue trying this product as I liked some of the benefits, but I'm not sure I could use it every day.
Grade: 3/5

Quick note: the amazing art deco, faux talon nails above are my sister's handi-work - she did this geometric nail art when I visited New York City last weekend. Be on the lookout for an upcoming post with lots of pictures and a tutorial.
